Originally from the U.S., I trained as a ballet dancer until the age of 18 when I switched to Contemporary dance. After completing my bachelor’s degree in English, I moved to San Francisco and worked as a freelance dancer, performing with various companies. To manage the pain from dancing I completed my 2 year certification in Pilates through Ellie Herman in 2004. Along with a 22 year career as a professional dancer, and having completed a Master’s degree in Dance from Smith College, I have worked as a Pilates teacher and rehabilitation specialist, completed a 300 hour massage course and two 100 hour rehabilitation workshops. I have had the honor of training students to become Pilates teachers, working as the movement/rehabilitation specialist in a chiropractor’s office for over 5 years, teaching in various Pilates studios across the U.S. and in Berlin, and teaching dance and anatomy/kinesiology for dancers as an adjunct professor at Smith College, Amherst College, Mount Holyoke College and Keene State College in the U.S.
As a teacher I am interested in refining alignment in the body and discovering the small muscles that support larger movement. My class is safe for all bodies of all ages at all times in life.
